Our Rotary District Governor, Kevin Pitts, is responsible for visiting and speaking to every Rotary club in our geographically sprawling district, across the central and northern 2/3 of Arizona, along with Laughlin, NV. One never knows what to expect from a Governor's visit, but Kevin essentially shared with us his personal Rotary journey, beginning with the man who invited him into Rotary and served as his sponsor (the man on the screen in this photo). He continued by telling us about the most impactful experiences in Rotary which have developed and shaped him as a Rotary leader. He used a PowerPoint to illustrate, but he read from no script. He simply shared his experiences and related them to our club.
From this PDG editor's perspective, having delivered DG messages, and listened to scores of other DG speeches over my many years in Rotary, I believe the message Kevin shared with our club was one of the best I have ever heard. If you were unable to attend, you missed a good one. Thank you, DG Kevin, for coming and sharing your personal Rotary journey with our club!
CLUB SERVICE
DG Kevin, having been raised in Prescott, invited a former Prescott High classmate, Betsy Maxwell, who has just recently returned to Prescott, to come to our meeting on Wednesday to make a special presentation to our club of some historical documents and awards. Her father, Charles L. Maxwell, an Educator, was one of the original members of our Prescott Sunup Rotary Club when it was chartered in 1981. Thank you, Betsy! We were honored to have you with us, and appreciated your message and each of these historical items you brought to us. We hope to see you back with us again soon.
SPEAKING OF OUR CLUB'S HISTORY — You won't want to miss the presentation this week by John Stewart, our Club Historian. He will be giving us a visual overview of some of our club's highlights and accomplishments. You will especially enjoy seeing how some of our current members looked "back then."

NEW PROJECT WINNERS: President Laura announced at our meeting that all three of the proposed new community service projects have been approved. In the photo Richard Hernandez is representing the food collections to help bolster the Yavapai College Food Bank. Jane Ann Shimizu is standing in for Lisa Doherty for the "Birthday in a Pan" project, and Cassidy Stauffer is representing the South Tonto Rotary Park adoption. More information will be coming about all three projects.

YOUTH SERVICE
CRUTCHES & WALKERS INSPECTION: Michelle, Addy and Sherylann, from the Prescott High Interact Club, along with Ron Williams, Interact Advisor Cathleen Cherry and Art Harrington, met at Ponderosa Mini-Storage last Monday to examine the collected mobility equipment, to determine the number of replacement parts which will need to be ordered for our joint Rotary & Interact Crutches Rehab Project there at the mini-storage on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 9:00 a.m. We will be cleaning up the equipment, as well as replacing some arm pads, hand grips and tips.
A REGISTER ROUNDUP at Ace Hardware in Prescott Valley during the month of October will be happening to benefit of our Interact Crutches 4 Africa and Interact Ambassadors program.

A little boy was in a relative's wedding. As he was coming down the aisle he would take two steps, stop, and turn to the crowd (alternating between bride's side and groom's side). While facing the crowd, he would put his hands up like claws and roar loudly.
So it went, step, step, ROAR, step, step, ROAR all the way down the aisle.
As you can imagine, the crowd was near tears from laughing so hard by the time he reached the front. The little boy, however, was getting more and more distressed from all the laughing, and was near tears by the time he reached the pulpit. When asked what he was doing, the child sniffed and said, "I was being the Ring Bear."
