Double Down Casino Night:Chair Jane Anne Shimizu was able to secure the Rodeo Grounds for Saturday, May 11, 2019 for our next Double Down Casino Night fundraiser. She reserved the Grandstand area for the game tables, and the Mackin Building for the buffet. The committee expressed that the Casino event is growing and we need more room. The additional cost was only $500, which Jane Anne pointed out is only the sale of 10 more tickets at $50 each. It is the committee's opinion the event will continue to grow each year as more people have a good time and is spread by word of mouth. All area Rotarians are invited to join the planning committee starting later this year.
Great Extractions:Jane Shimizu was Sergeant-at-Arms and enlisted A.J. Sheridan to tote the spittoon. Terry Smith paid $52 to SURF for celebration of his and Terri's 52nd anniversary. Phil Goode proudly announced the new airline, United Express, begins service on 8/29 at the Prescott Regional Airport. Par Wood noted her mom's recovery. Rod Cordes' house had been destroyed by a lightning strike and will take a year to rebuild. Ben Tuttle reported his son Shawn had arrived home for first time in 7 years.
Speaker on August 29:Jonnathan Audiss, business development director of the steel framing company, FrameCAD, gave us a firsthand look at 21st century building. FrameCAD is a New Zealand-based company that sells their products all over the world improving communities through rapid delivery of quality buildings for businesses and governments. They sell both machinery and software in the design the structure, and produce the columns, joists and framework for the building. The structures can be erected in three days of non-combustible materials that are environmentally friendly, as well as fire and hurricane resistant. The houses can help third world countries as the parts come with pre-drilled holes, cut to size, and only have to be screwed together like an erector set. The machines cost $250,000, and they have sold 1,000 machines.

Good Morning Fellow Rotarians!
The news lately has been replete with stories of horrendous accidents. As we enter this holiday weekend, and as we look to the holidays to come, let me wish you all safe travels.
Also, permit me to lend encouragement and support to Art Harrington’s message from last week’s meeting. When we contribute to the Rotary Foundation, we not only benefit directly to the larger Rotary community, but we also reap dividends locally through our ability to participate in and secure matching grant funds, a true synergistic model of community involvement.
