Christy Manning, Belinda Sutherland and Jane Anne Shimizu
If there was one message that came through loud and clear from Belinda Sutherland's presentation, it was the importance of purchasing Travel Insurance in these chaotic travel times. She explained to us the many ways that safety net could avert travel disasters, and could prevent the loss of large amounts invested in trips.
Belinda also described the numerous ways that AI is being utilized by travel advisors to improve the quality of trips being planned, as well as saving immense amounts of time previously having to be invested in researching possible options for travelers. She credited Jane Anne with implementing AI in their TravelCrafters Travel Agency.
Many in Rotary today do not know that key Rotarians were instrumental in helping to form the United Nations. Rotary has also maintained a seat at the United Nations since its inception.
Consequently, Rotary International is commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the United Nations with a "Global Goals, Local Action" Celebration on December 11
th at the War Memorial Veterans Building in San Francisco. If you would like to learn more about this, here is the event link

CLUB SERVICE
We were saddened by the news of the sudden passing of Sara Van Bourgondien's husband, Greg Theno, last weekend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Sarah, during these difficult days. As your Rotary family, we share in your sorrow and your loss.
Although he doesn't appear to be ecstatic about our singing of "Happy Birthday" to him, we helped John Stewart celebrate his 80th birthday at our club meeting last week.
Here's a happier shot of John's 80th we just received. Happy Birthday, John! We love you and appreciate you!

That’s the word on the street.

A truck loaded with Vicks Vaporub overturned on the highway.
Amazingly, there was no congestion for 8 hours.

My musical director wasn't happy with the performance of one of our percussionists. Repeated attempts to get the drummer to improve failed. Finally, in front of the orchestra, the director said in frustration, "When a musician just can't handle his instrument, they take it away, give him two sticks and make him a drummer!"
A stage whisper was heard from the percussion section: "And if he can't handle that, they take away one of his sticks and make him a conductor."

An Amish woman was driving her horse and buggy into town with her young son when she was stopped by a highway patrolman.
“I’m not going to give you a ticket,” the officer said, “I just wanted to warn you that the reflector on the back of your car is broken and could be dangerous.”
“Thank you,” said the Amish woman, “I will have my husband fix it as soon as I get home.”
“Also,” said the officer, “I noticed that one of your horse’s reins is tied around the horse’s testicles. Some might consider that ‘cruelty to animals,’ so you’d better have your husband check that out, too.”
“Thank you again,” said the Amish woman, “I will have my husband look into that when I get home.”
When the Amish woman returned home, she told her husband about the broken reflector, and he said he would fix it right away.
“Also,” the Amish woman said, “the police officer said there was something wrong with our emergency brake.
