On the 3rd Wednesday of each month, at least for the remainder of this Rotary Year, President Laura's "President's Choice Meeting" will be held in the evening at 5:15, instead of at our usual 6:30 a.m. breakfast meeting time.  The first of these socializing meetings was held this past Wednesday, Nov. 15, in the lobby of the Hassayampa Inn.  Members of the Board of Directors of the Prescott Community Cupboard food bank, along with some spouses and guests of our club members, joined us for this more informal style meeting.  We still had a Sgt-At-Arms (Val Ripley), and we did still sing — but that was only to celebrate John Stewart's 78th birthday.  A good time was had by all.

 

 

 

 

Every Rotarian is encouraged to contribute every year to The Rotary Foundation, which is literally "the enabling arm of Rotary."  District Governor Kevin Pitts says, in this month's district newsletter, "The amount is less important than the act of giving, in whatever capacity any Rotarian can comfortably contribute. President Laura watches, as Jane Ann Shimizu, Linda Ripley and Jane Dunham place the finishing club labels on the 100 Kids Birthday Party in a Pan packs before they were given to the Prescott Community Cupboard Food Bank.

President Laura and Lisa Dougherty, the Project Chair, officially presented the Kids Birthday Party in a Pan packs to Prescott Community Cupboard Board Chair Lee Danaher.   The project enables struggling families being served by the food bank, to still celebrate their child's birthday with a card, a cake and balloons.

 

 

You will recall our announcements that the Ace Hardware in Prescott Valley was doing a "Register Roundup" during the month of October, sponsored by the Prescott High Interact Club, with the proceeds going to our Interact district's Crutches 4 Africa and Interact Ambassadors program. 

 

Cathleen Cherry, PHS Interact Club's Faculty Advisor, has informed us that the Long family, the owners that store, will be sending a check for more than $1,000, raised by this year's Ace Hardware Register Roundup, to the Interact district in support of our C4A and Ambassadors program,  Thank you Long Family, and thanks also to those of you who purchased items from Ace during October, and contributed through their Register Roundup.

 

 

It has just been announced that Joe Sweeney, a member of the Rotary Club of Prescott, who is also serving as our Assistant Governor, has just been selected to serve as District Governor for the 2026-2026 Rotary Year.  We heartily congratulate Joe and his wife Linda, who is also a Rotarian.  They will make a great team leading our district.

 

After the ribbon was cut last Friday for the opening of a beautiful pond on the Mohave Community College campus in Kingman, a special bench in an area by the pond was dedicated in memory of Rotary Past District Governor Danny Messersmith.  Danny served for more that 30 years in leadership at MCC, and helped develop that main campus.  He was also the Mohave County Historian and served as our Rotary District Historian.  It was a privilege to join with these Rotarians pictured above, from the Route 66 Rotary Club in Kingman, as we dedicated "Danny's Bench" — a fitting memorial to a great Rotarian who served so many so very well.
