Dennis Edwards had the thought for the day: “If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything.”
Sgt. At arms was Clent Walker. The Song for the day was The Happy Wanderer so he fined Val Ripley for the chorus ‘Valderi, valdera, valderi, valdera-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha’. Val was not laughing. Jane Anne gave happy bucks and asked everyone committed to Double Down to give us money so that we could pay upcoming bills. Sara was happy because the Yavapai County drought is over. Eric gave happy bucks for his trip to Cancun with Teresa for her 65th Bday. Yoichi was thankful the bulletin helped him remember his anniversary.
Last Weeks Speaker: Doug Nick is the Assistant Communications Director for Customer Outreach from the Phoenix MVD. The MVD vision is to get people out of line and safely on the road. Approximately 2/3 of their services can be done on line, at no additional cost to you. The amount of time spent in their offices is measured at each location every day. Since starting programs with a greeter to determine your needs and solving problems before you get to a window, and opening offices at 730, the average wait times have decreased from 52 minutes to 20!
The MVD has become more efficient because they start some employees ½ hour earlier & stagger clock in times and lunch breaks.
Services on line are: renew registration, order replacement drivers license, put a sold notice for sold vehicles, change insurance info, specialty license plate and new driver testing.
Effective 10/01/2020, the TSA will no longer accept an AZ standard driver license for travel ID. The new licenses are available now.
The third annual Double Down Casino Night is coming Saturday, May 11th. Once again it will be held at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds. Prescott area Rotary Clubs will be benefiting local charities. For tickets contact any Rotarian or purchase tickets by clicking here.

Good morning Sun-Upians … It is with some sadness that I share with you this message. Ben Tuttle will be leaving to take up residence in the Phoenix area later this month. I will be saying good-bye to a very good friend, and we will all miss his support in the club. I know Ben to be somewhat self-effacing, and one to run from praise … but praise is so well deserved, and I hope to have at least one more occasion to embarrass him with effusive and rightly earned praise. For years, Ben has been an oak pillar supporting the tent that is Sun-up Rotary … through program management, club service, leading in membership activities, and for me, readily sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience.
Another notice will be forthcoming, but please plan to mark this Friday, March 15th at 5:00 pm and join me in a farewell reception for Ben at the Phippen Museum … light appetizers from El Gato Azul, and a tour of the museum.
Ben, you are going to leave a very large pair of shoes to fill.
“You have been my friend. That in itself is a tremendous thing.” -E.B. White
