Lower 22 Foundation Raising Funds for National Guard Armory Murals

Adam Nance and his team shared with our club the disturbing news that 22 Veterans of our U.S. Armed Services commit suicide every day.  One of the local projects of their Lower 22 Foundation involves raising $3,500 to help lift the morale and improve the outlook of local veterans utilizing our National Guard Armory by painting murals on its currently bare walls.  The concept is to promote pride in those who have served by creating murals which will depict the deployments and past accomplishments of our Prescott Nationak Guard Unit.

An "Art at the Armory Paint and Sip" fundraising event is planned for Sept. 13th at the Armory.  See the flyer below:

As you are probably all aware, Rotary operates on a fiscal year, from July 1 to June 30.  Recognizing that, we are standing on the threshhold of a new Rotary year.  In Rotary clubs around the world, the torch is being passed from a Club President, who has completed his/her year of club leadership, to a new club leader.  The success of that new Club President depends on  the support each club member is willing to give, pitching in to do the essential work of a service organization, rather that sitting on the sidelines as a critic.

Christy Manning has done a phenomenal job in leading our club, and in serving as an effective and appreciated cheerleader for all of our projects and efforts.  Jane Anne Schimizu brings the experience of having sertved as a successful Club President some years ago, along with her own unique perspective and set of abilities.  We sincerely thank Christy for all she has enabled us to accomplish as a club this year, and we applaud Jane Anne's willingness to step up to once again lead our club in the new Rotary year ahead.

Sponsor Glen Hammond is pictured here with our newest member, Danalyn Savage.

Although this is probably not the picture Jane Anne Schimizu is planning to use for her official photo as our next Club President, her Birthday Girl photo is indicative of her intention to continue to lead our club in having fun.  Happy Birthday, Jane Anne!  We love and appreciate you.

COMMUNTY SERVICE

Thank you, Todd Clancy, for delivering this month's Breakfast Club items to the Prescott Area Women's Shelter.  In addition, thank you to Todd, and to Co-Chair Marsha Teller, for initiating this new project, whereby our club will be providing breakfast items on the last Wednesday of each month to the women's shelter.  This project replaces our previous donation of a monthly dinner for the shelter.  Marsha and Todd are pictured here with the breakfast food items our club members brought to last Wednesday's meeting.

We will need a club member to deliver the breakfast items to the women's shelter between 9:30 a.m..and 12:00 noon on that last Wednesday of each month.  Thanks to Jane White for volunteering to make our Breakfast Club delivery in July!

Community Service Chair Marsha Says:

YOUTH SERVICE

We were thrilled to welcome back last Monday our Interact Ambassadors to Mexico Team, after a very successful service mission, although it was necessary for Team Advisor Roger Edmonds to return having to use a wheelchair..

We are also pleased to report that our Interact Ambassadors to Kenya Team, which flew from Phoenix on Friday evening, has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya.  They are pictured here with their first week host Meitamei Olol Dapash and others.

Be sure to mark your calendar, so you won't miss our Sunup club meeting on July 30, when representatives from our two Interact Ambassadors Teams will be reporting on their service trips this summer.  Our club continues to be a strong supporter of this unique International Leadership Training and Service Program for high school age active members of Interact Clubs. Nowhere else in the world, other than here in our district in Arizona, are youth afforded this incredible opportunity/

The Prez Says
Christy Manning

Can you believe the Rotary year is coming to an end? It feels like my installation dinner was just last week—and now, here we are, preparing to welcome Jane Anne as our next president.

This past year has been filled with so much positive energy, momentum, and purpose. I truly could not have made it through without my incredible board, our dedicated foundation board, and—most of all—each of you. Thank you for showing up, for stepping in, and for making this such a memorable year for me.

Over the last 12 months, I’ve learned a lot—not just about Rotary, but about leadership, service, and the strength of our club community.

So what have I learned about being president of this club?

I’ve learned that leadership isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about listening, collaborating, and trusting others to bring their best selves forward.

I’ve learned that small acts of service can spark big change when fueled by passion and unity.

I’ve learned that Rotary isn't just a club—it’s a family. And when that family rallies together, there's nothing we can’t accomplish.

As I pass the torch, I do so with a full heart and deep gratitude. I know our club is in excellent hands, and I can't wait to see what comes next under Jane Anne’s leadership.

Thank you for letting me serve. It’s been an honor I’ll carry with me always.
