Annual Club Installation Happens at Goldwater Lake
Immediate Past President Christy Manning hugged her successor, Jane Anne Shimizu, at our Goldwater Lake Instalation Diinner, wishing her a successful year.

Past President Christy presented a number of appreciation gifts to her Club Board members and others, whom she felt had been the key to the club's very successful 2024-25 Rotary Year.

Assistant Governor Katheryn Tuberty was with us to administer the Oath of Office for our new Club  President, Jane Anne Shimizu.

President Jane Anne Shimizu is flanked by those members of her Board of Directors who were able to be there for her installation. Unfortunately, not all of them were able to make it.  Among the missing were Todd Clancy, International Service Director, who had knee replacement surgery that morning.

Every mmber of a Rotary Club receives each month a mailed copy of the Rotary Magazine, the official publication of Rotary International.  It provides a good opportunity to view the World of Rotary which exists outside the walls of our club's meeting room — and this is important,  After all, we are Rotary International — not just a single club in our hometown.  We encourge you to read this publication, and to pass it along to someone you feel may have a special interest in one of the articles in each month's issue.  It is also a great magazine to make available to your clients and customers to read, as they wait for their appointment with you,  The fact is, though, that there is not just one Rotary Magazine.  You may be surprised to learn that Rotary's communications network includes over 30 regional magazines. Each magazine is independently produced and published.

CLUB SERVICE

Our Satellite Prescott Valley Rotary Club

From its inception, our intention in sponsoring a Satellite Rotary Club in Prescott Valley has been to see it grow as quickly as possible, developing a size and its own leadership, which would enable it to atand on its own as a separate, chartered Rotary Club.  Did anyone expect that to happen within 6 months of its first meeting?  It has been an incredible success story, of which both our Prescott Sunup Rotary Club and this new PV Rotary Club can be justifiably proud.  Pictured here are the Officers and Directors who will be leading this thriving new club.  The charter paperwork has been initiated, and we will soon be announcing when our satellite club will be officially charterted by Rotary International.  BTW:  They have set a membership goal of having 50 club members by July 1, 2026.  They have already exceeded their initiual goal of having 25 members by the time they chartered.

Here is the "Who's Who" listing of PV Rotary Club's Officers and Directors who will be serving this Rotary year.

PDG Don and Annette Schiller presented to the PV Rotary Club a beautiful wooden bowl, carved by former longtime PV Rotary member Jack Coffrin, to be used as a perpetual Past Club President trophy.  Each year the retiring Club President will receive the carved bowl, bearing its Rotary emblem, and will be the caretaker of that bowl, until it is passed along to the next retiring Club President.  It will be a great club tradition.  Thanks, Don and Annette!!

September provides us with another opportunity to help our veterans. Art at the Armory Paint and Sip is sponsored by Lower 22 to raise funds for the National Guard Armory.
It is their hope to raise money to help lift the morale and improve the outlook for veterans utilizing the Armory by decorating the walls with painted murals depicting the deployments and past accomplishments of our Prescott National Guard Unit.
Please mark your calendars for Saturday, September 13th from 6-8 p.m at the Armory.

The Prez Says
Jane Anne Shimizu

Hello my fellow Rotarians,

I want to start off my first newsletter thanking everyone who made the installation successful.  Those who braved the heat discovered that for some reason when you are on the lake and it’s a Rotary event, there’s a breeze.

Where is the monsoon season?  This weekend I focused on the power of joy-recognizing what brings joy into our lives and learning to prioritize those aspects while respectfully I hope this message finds you well as we embrace the full swing of summer and the arrival of declining commitments that do not align with our happiness.

Reflecting on this session, I’ve been approached by some of you who have wondered why I took on the role of presidency amidst my already busy life.  The answer, quite simply, is joy.  Serving as your president brings immense joy into my life, and it’s a privilege to contribute to our community in this capacity.

Your support and encouragement mean a great deal to me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to lead such a dedicated and passionate group of individuals.  Together, I am confident we will achieve remarkable things in the year ahead which will bring joy to each one of us as well as our community.

Thank you for your trust and confidence in me.  Let’s continue to inspire positive change and make a meaningful impact through our Rotary efforts resulting in joy.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Jane Anne
