For the first time in 20 years, it rained on the Rose Parade this year on New Year's Day. However, rain or shine, since 1923, Rotary has been showing up with a Rotary Float, to assure that Rotary's presence and message is carried around the world. Each year, approximately 700,000 attend the Tournament of Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA, in-person, and many millions around the world watch it via television. The front of this year's float is seen above, with this year's Rotary International theme, "Unite for Good," displayed for all of the world to see what we do as Rotarians.
Our DGN Joe Sweeney and his wife Linda (President of the Prescott Frontier Rotary Club) participated as vounteers to help create this year's float. Each Rotary float is financed entirely by special donations for this purpose, and they are assembled in Pasadena by an army of Rotary volunteers from around the world. They say it is "a labor of love" — besides being a ton of fun!

Congratulations to Our Camp Wamatochick
— Celebrating its 100th Anniversary!
Can you believe it? Our Camp Wamatochick is now 100 years old — and it has never looked better!
We say "our Camp Wamatochick," since this is where we hold our JR RYLA leadership camp each summer in June, and our Interact District Council Retreat in July. Besides that, several years ago our Sunup Rotary Club undertook the project of remodeling and winterizing one of the cabins — which has ever since displayed our Prescott Sunup Rotary Club's name on a sign above the front door of the cabin.
THE ROTARY FOUNDATION
It's that time of year again when our Sunup Rotary Club offers a 90-day, limited-time offer to our members: Our annual "Let's Make A Deal."
Our club will match whatever amount it takes to make you a Paul Harris Fellow, or to move you up to the next PHF-Plus level of giving to The Rotary Foundation's Annual Fund SHARE. Come to this week's club meeting to learn how this unique offer works — and why we do it.
DISTRICT NEWS
Scottsdale Rotary Opportunity
One Christmas, Mom decreed that she was no longer going to remind her children of their thank you note duties. As a result, their grandmother never received acknowledgments of the generous checks she had given.
The next year, things were different. “The children came over in person to thank me,” the grandmother told a friend triumphantly.
“How wonderful,” the friend exclaimed. “What do you think caused the change in behavior?”
“Oh, that’s easy,” the grandmother replied. “This year I didn’t sign the checks.”
This seems to prove once again that old age and treachery will beat youth and skill every time!

I’ll never be asked to go caroling at the psychiatric hospital again.
In hindsight, I guess singing “Do you Hear What I Hear?” was not such a good idea.

Hiking in your 60’s is a great way to meet people.
Today I met 2 paramedics, 3 nurses, a cardiologist…and almost met Jesus.

I was sitting here eating my lunch, when it occurred to me that cottage cheese is not actually, in reality, a cheese.
It’s just a curd to me.
