Agape House poinsetttias expressing appreciation to Sunup Rotary
Sunup's Poinsettia Patrol, setting up a poinsettia-lined pathway down the stairs to our club meeting on Dec. 3rd. Becky Mitchell, Agape House's Executive Director, in the red shirt, is standing behind Jane White.
"Agape House of Prescott exists to provide long-term transitional housing for families who are without a residence. We actively seek to keep the families together, while helping facilitate additional support services in order to equip the families for an independent and self-sustained future." So states the published mission of Agape House, which has found that the solution to homelessness is a four-step program they call: "The Pathway to Independence."
1. The first 30 days begins with stability
2. The second phase centers on personal wellness, emotional and mental health stability
3. The third phase implements life skills training
4. The last step focuses on stability and independence
This approach has resulted in an 86% success rate of families living independently one year after they leave the program. We applaud the work and the success of Agape House, as they continue to make a significant impact on the homeless crisis in Prescott.
Sunup Co-President Christy Manning says:
"A huge thank you to Agape House for the beautiful poinsettias gifted to our Rotary members!
We are truly grateful for the ongoing partnership and the incredible work you do supporting families in need in our community. Your compassion and dedication make a real difference, and we’re proud to stand alongside you in service.
Thank you, Agape House, for all you do — and for brightening our holiday season with this thoughtful service."

COMMUNITY SERVICE
Thanks to All who donated supplies for the totes we assembled last Werdnesday at our meeting for the homeless students at Mayer Jr. & Sr. High School. We appreciated all who those who showed up to help us load the bags. It was great fun working together, while enjoying the donuts and hor cocoa, which were provided. The hands-on project didn't take as long as expected, and we were actually able to end our meeting early, and to get on with the business of the day.
Sorry — the only picture of this project received by the editor was this one of Danalyn Savage and her two children, whom she recruited to help us fill the bags. Perhaps there will be additional pictures we can include in next week's newsletter,
YOUTH SERVICE
This was the crew who loaded, on Dec. 6, the Interact Crutches 4 Africa mobility equipment from the East Valley storage location in Queen Creek into this U-Haul Truck. Additional workers from the Interact District Council helped to finish filling the truck with the equipment from the West Valley storage unit in Glendale. The equipment from Prescott had been brought down that day in Ron Williams' trailer, and it was included in the equipment loaded in Queen Creek. The truck has safely arrived in Denver, where a 40-ft. shipping containerv will be loaded, and it will be shipped from there on Dec. 27 to our Rotary and Rotaract partners in Kenya.
INTERNATIONAL SERVICE
What does Christmas look like for ALEM, our amazing technicians in wheelchairs in Cuernavaca and Mexico City?
How about a semi truckload of 25,000 pounds of wheelchair replacement parts?
This was made possible by an anonymous donor, along with many supporters who stepped up to match the challenge.
Over the past year, ALEM repaired or replaced over 3,000 wheelchaits. The demand for their services is huge, along with their need for parts, to be able to continue to do their work. With the distributed parts from this truckload, ALEM is now restocked in both of their locations.
