It was during our Sunup Time meeting last week that our members participated in a hands-on project of assembling Amerian flags, which our club is donating to the American Legion. These are flags our club purchased years ago in conjunction with a joint community service project with the Boy Scouts. That project had begun strong, but eventually fizzled out, leaving our club with about 80 flags, which have been taking up space in our storage unit ever since. In talking with the American Legion, our Community Service Committee found that their organization would like to have a number of those flags. Therefore, our meeting last Wednesday became a flags assembly day. Hats off to Dr, Gus Bergman, who excelled as our Chief Sticker Man, getting our Sunup Rotary sticker affixed to each flagpole, identifying the source of the donated flag.
Past President Christy Manning directed the unsheathing of the flagpoles from the plastic tube in which they had been shipped. All of this led to the discovery of unknown skills (or lack thereof) of our club members, while enjoyiong some great Rotary fellowship.
CLUB SERVICE
MONTHLY RECOGNITIONS OF MEMBERS
President Russ Davis presented to Laura Vanderberg the Rotarian of the Month Award. He also announced to the club that Laura has just been chosen as the DGND for our Rotary District. She will serve as the District Governor for the 2029-2030 Rotary Year. Congratulations, Laura, on both counts!!
NOTE LAURA'S NEW EMAIL ADDRESS: With her new district leadership responsibilities, Laura also acquires a new Rotary email address: 5495laurav@gmail.com She says, “I will do my best to use only this one for Rotary emails going forward!”
President Russ also announced that Vicki Mickel is the Unsung Hero of the Month. Unfortunately, Vicki was sick at home, and wasn't able to be there to receive the award in person. However, congratilations, Vicki! Your many services are noticed and appreciated!
CLUB STORAGE SWITCH WORK DAY
President Russ has led the way in downsizing our club's storage unit at Ponderosa mini-Storage. The move has been intended to cut our club's storage expenses by doing a housecleaning, and getting rid of most of the equipment and supplies which will probably never be needed again — and thereby being able to rent a smaller storage unit
Par Wood, Don Schiller, Russ Davis and Vicki & Alan Mickel helped with the work.
Also involved with the project were Judy Garner, Emmett Jones and Todd Clancy
YOUTH SERVICE
It was at the height of the downpour from Last Tuesday's storm that 15 Prescott High Interactors had scheduled to meet Rotarian Ron Williams, with his 16-ft. trailer, to transport to Ponderosa Mini-Storage a load of mobility equipment which Prescott (Samaritan) Village was donating to Interact's Crutches 4 Africa Project. However, rain or shine, the worlk had to be done when a crew and a trailer were both available. While everyone was drenched, the work was acomplished. Included in the donation were three specialty wheelchairs, which are badly needed in Kenya.
The Interactors relayed the equipment from one to the next, until it reached the waiting trailer.
A good Club President needs to lead by example, right? Isabelle Brown, PHS Interact President, wasn't daunted by the rain, sleet or hail. She is seen here working on loading the trailer with the equipment, partially shielded by an umbrella, being held by Ron Williams. Needless to say, she got soaked!

At one point during a game, the coach said to one of his young players, "Do you understand what cooperation is? What a team is?" The little boy nodded. "Do you understand that what matters is whether we win together as a team?" The little boy nodded again. "So," the coach continued, "when a strike is called, or you're out at first, you don't argue or curse or attack the umpire. Do you understand all that?" The little boy nodded once more. "Good," said the coach, "now go over there and explain it to your mother."

The teacher asked, “Who can tell me the chemical formula for water?” Little Johnny pipes up, “HIJKLMNO.” The teacher is puzzled and asks, “What on earth are you talking about, Johnny? Little Johnny looks hurt, and says, “But Sir, you said yourself yesterday that it is H to O.”

A Navy carrier air wing was busy with training missions. After talking to a pilot, one air-traffic controller accidentally left his microphone on and remarked to a nearby buddy, "That guy sounded just like Elmer Fudd." The airwaves got strangely quiet as everyone listened, realizing that the pilot had also heard the comment. After about ten seconds, the pilot broke the silence by announcing, "Be vewy, vewy quiet. We are hunting submawenes."
