Our own club member, Col. Russ Davis, proudly informed us that the U.S. Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) program based at Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, is ranked among the top 10 percent of all 145 AFROTC detachments nationwide. He said they work hard to maintain their standing, and that Academics is the top priority in working with their cadets.
The Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is a four-year college elective program offered at Embry‑Riddle's residential campuses to train students to become Air Force and Army officers. The
Air Force and
Army ROTC offer youth a chance to develop the skills for success needed in the military and civilian worlds, such as confidence, self-esteem, motivation, and the ability to make decisions. Embry‑Riddle also boasts the seventh-largest Army ROTC program in the country, and it is the third-highest-producing Army ROTC organization of all non-military college programs nationally.
Russ also shared with us that Embry Riddle and Yavapai College are partnering on a new program to offer ROTC scholarships to nursing students, enabling them to complete their nursing degree at ERAU.
Rotary excels in training leaders. The Club Leadership Academy is one of a number of leadership training programs offered by our Rotary District 5495. Its purpose is to train Rotary Club Leaders. Registration to participate in CLA can be done by visiting our Rotary District 5495 website: rotary5495.org.

YOUTH SERVICE
Our Silver Wings Rotaract Club at Embry Riddle is raising funds to offset travel costs to competitions with other universities. We urge you to consider supporting these young leaders by scheduling to have dinner at Panera Bread on March 23rd, and showing them this ad in our Sunupian newsletter/
Inspired by our Col. Russ Davis' program, here is a little military humor:
Camouflaged: A drill sergeant yells at his young trainee, “I didn’t see you at camouflage training this morning, private!” The private replies, “Well, thank you very much, sir.”
Stuck Like Glue: A general gets stuck in his Jeep on the side of the road. All of a sudden, a lieutenant pulls up, hops out, and asks “Is your car stuck sir?” The general climbs out, hands his keys over, and slides into the lieutenant’s car before saying, “Nope. But yours is."
Idiots: As a group of soldiers stood in formation at an Army Base, the Drill Sergeant said, “All right! All you idiots fall out.” As the rest of the squad wandered away, one soldier remained at attention. The drill instructor walked over until he was eye-to-eye with him. The soldier smiled and said, “Sure were a lot of ’em, huh, sir?”
Making Change: Officer: “Soldier, do you have change for a dollar?” Soldier: “Sure, buddy.” Officer: “That’s no way to address an officer! Now, let’s try it again!” Officer: “Soldier. Do you have change for a dollar?” Soldier: “No, SIR!”
Military Secrets: My friend kept asking what my military rank was, but I kept telling him it’s Private.

During a church service, the priest called for a moment of silence to remember the faithful dead.
The church grew quiet, except for a little boy who turned to his father and piped, "Dad, you have some of their albums!"
